Hilltop Walk, Watton-at-Stone
Client: Marchfield
Hilltop Walk consists of two detached houses matching exactly the footprint and volume of commercial sheds and outbuildings which originally occupied the site.
Being on the edge of the village boundary, the replacement buildings had to be of no greater impact on the openness of the Green Belt than the buildings they replaced.
As a result, each house has two ridge levels to replicate the heights of the original sheds and ensure there would be no increase in building volume.
The original use of the site for building plant and materials storage had become an eyesore over the years and improvement of this sensitive part of the village was achieved following close consultation with East Herts Council’s Planning Officers and the Parish Council.
