Miller’s View, Much Hadham
Client: Swing Ltd
In 2015, planning permission was obtained for three detached houses totalling 8200ft² on the site of the old Hadham Railway Station.
After a second application in 2016 consent was obtained for five detached and semi-detached houses of slightly larger floor area because these were thought to be more saleable.
Ecological challenges were presented with the discovery of slow worms and edible Roman snails. These had to be carefully translocated under mitigation measures agreed with East Herts District Council. Bats were also found to be present in the area so a continuous corridor of vegetation was provided through the site to give them uninterrupted access to nearby woodland for foraging.
The houses are traditional in appearance, architectural detailing and materials to continue the character of earlier buildings in Miller’s View.
