A contemporary 3 bedroom house to replace a flood-damaged bungalow on the River Thames.
After severe flooding the building was beyond economic repair and this presented an opportunity for the owner to apply for planning permission to increase the original floor area from 840 to 1350ft².
The new living accommodation had to be raised to take account of a one-in-hundred-year flood risk and allowance for climate change.
To meet the client’s brief to achieve optimum internal floor areas, ridge and eaves heights were agreed with the planning officer by producing 3D images showing the new house in relation to adjacent existing properties.
External materials were selected to sympathise with the local architectural character and respond to the client’s requirement for low maintenance.
